Jobs
We are currently hiring for 2 positions: Part-time Meat Clerk and Full-time Butcher
Meat Clerk, part time 3:30pm - 7:30 pm Tu - Sat - $19/hr, 25% store discount
This position will grow into full time in the summer (July-ish). The full time position comes with 4 weeks PTO and quarterly profit sharing bonuses.
We are looking for friendly, dependable, and outgoing people to help our customers find the right cuts of meat for their dinner table. This is an entry level retail position where you will discuss with our customers their needs, trim and portion the steaks, and make sure they are getting the best possible meat for their meals. We are a whole animal butcher and many of the cuts we produce people are not familiar with. The job requires empathy and compassion along with no small amount of customer education.
In this position you will learn all the muscles and cuts we produce from each animal, how to prepare them properly, and how to talk with our customers to get them what they need rather than just the highest priced steak. I imagine this position to be the first step in a career as a butcher. As the shop grows you would have the option to learn all facets of the meat industry (Breaking and butchering whole animals, curing and smoking, charcuterie, cooking techniques, customer service, business management, etc)
Some knowledge about cooking and meat cutting is useful and good knife skills are very helpful, but I believe in hiring for attitude and training for skill. We are a small team and creating a great work environment is an important part of growing a business that takes care of its customers as well as its employees.

Head Butcher - Full Time
$20/hr. 40 hrs. per week; 7:30am – 4pm, 4 weeks PTO, 25% store discount, quarterly profit-sharing bonuses
We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and outgoing person to run the head butcher position. This position is the engine that drives the shop and is responsible for breaking down all the beef and pork into sub-primals, wrapping, storing, labeling, and rotating the stock. Cooking experience is useful, especially for discussing meat with customer. Good knife skills are very important. Our breaking is done following a seam method and we rarely use a bandsaw or handsaw for breaking. We are a whole animal butcher and many of the cuts we produce people are not familiar with. We utilize an “open kitchen” concept and we encourage our customers to ask questions and engage with all the employees. You will also learn how to talk about the different cuts and help customers find the meats that are right for their meals. The job requires empathy and compassion along with no small amount of customer education.
In this position you will learn how to break down beef and pork from whole animals to case ready cuts. This is a physically demanding job and you should be able to lift at least 50 lbs. regularly. This is a position for someone who has a moderate amount of experience with butchering animals, ideally in a commercial setting, but I believe in hiring for attitude and training for skill.
We are a retail store first and customer service is our top priority. Every position here helps with running the case and assisting our customers when we are busy and it is appropriate. We are a small team and creating a great work environment is an important part of growing a business that takes care of its customers as well as its employees
